    We are looking for someone to provide direction for and monitoring of healthcare delivery services offered by our organization within the context of a team setting while acting as a responsible leader, expert practitioner, educator/teacher, consultant, and care coordinator. The Medical Director will also provide standardized primary care which includes HIV, HBV, HCV, and STI treatment and follow-up for community based, ambulatory adult patients (ages 18 and above).

    RESPONSIBILITIES 

    The Medical Director will provide comprehensive medical care to AID Upstate clients including primary care and HIV specialty care in two locations (neighboring counties). This position is responsible for overseeing and evaluating our organization’s medical care delivery system, while collaborating with our executive team to achieve our overall goals—especially those directly related to healthcare delivery. This position composes and implements policies related to patient safety, care standardization, and quality/process improvement. The Medical Director participates in operational assessments related to revenue enhancement, expense reductions, efficiency consolidation, and billing opportunities. Additionally, he or she participates in recruitment and selection of medical providers and clinical staff. The Medical Director supervises prescribing providers, performs annual performance reviews, trains all medical department personnel as appropriate; performs routine medical record reviews for all clinic staff with a focus on quality of care and consistent and appropriate coding; works with EMR administrator to train staff and maximize the EMR’s features for optimum organizational efficiency. He or she acts as a liaison between our organization and other medical entities/providers within the greater community.

    NOTE: The employee must abide by strict confidentiality requirements on and off duty. Note: This expectation extends beyond employee’s employment period with AID Upstate.

    Requirements

      

    The applicant must possess a Medical Degree (MD/DO) from an accredited institution, have successfully completed a medical residency program in Family Practice or Internal Medicine, and be Board certified in their specialty. A minimum of 5 years work experience providing HIV specialty and/or primary care is required. Specialty certification in HIV care will be required after 3 years of employment. The applicant must possess a current (unencumbered) South Carolina medical license with prescriptive authority. Additionally, the applicant must have a current Federal Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) Registration. The applicant must possess proficient computer skills and have above average communication skills (both written and oral).
