Financial Aid Director - Higher Ed. manages and administers all aspects of student financial aid program. Oversees the critical flow of all grant, loan, and scholarship dollars to proper entities as required. Being a Financial Aid Director - Higher Ed. instructs students and parents on the application for loans or scholarships. Has knowledge of available private, state, and federal financial aid programs. Additionally, Financial Aid Director - Higher Ed. requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a senior institutional officer. The Financial Aid Director - Higher Ed. typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     Position Summary:
    This position is responsible for the supervision of financial aid counselors and works with the Director of Financial Aid to plan, implement and evaluate activities in the Student Financial Aid office to insure program integrity and delivery of services. Additionally, this position is responsible for daily coordination and supervision of daily processes as well as overseeing the awarding and disbursement of federal, state, and institutional student financial assistance funding. It is also responsible for creating and maintaining written policies and procedures used by financial aid counselors to award and disburse financial aid funds to students.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Bachelors degree
    • Five years of work experience in student financial assistance.
    • Supervisory experience.



    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Masters degree.
    • Experience in supervising full-time staff in a student financial aid office in higher education;
    • Experience as a director, associate director, assistant director, or counselor/advisor in a student financial aid office in a large institution.
    • Demonstrated strong organizational skills.
    • Ability to communicate articulately; work cooperatively and harmoniously with staff and students; organize and supervise staff.
