The Student Financial Aid Specialist is responsible for the processing and awarding of state and federal grants according to strict regulation.
Specific Position Duties
Verify FAFSA information and make corrections to student applications as needed Award state and federal grants individually and in batch Act as a financial aid advisor Review student account statements Serve as a member of the financial aid appeals team Assist with return of Title IV funds calculations Award Stafford and PLUS Loans Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate’s degree or college coursework plus experience in personal accounting, high school/higher education or social program Good computer and business math skills Ability to work under pressure, perform multi-tasks and meet deadlines Good organizational skills and strong work ethic Ability to maintain a personable, tactful and pleasant demeanor at all times, even under stress Basic knowledge of financial aid Strong code of ethics and ability to adhere to guidelines.
Work Hours
Typical work hours include M - Th 8 am - 5:30 pm and Fri 8 am - 1pm. Summer hours include 7:30 am - 5:30 pm Mon - Thur Closed on Fridays
