Financial Aid Director - Higher Ed. manages and administers all aspects of student financial aid program. Oversees the critical flow of all grant, loan, and scholarship dollars to proper entities as required. Being a Financial Aid Director - Higher Ed. instructs students and parents on the application for loans or scholarships. Has knowledge of available private, state, and federal financial aid programs. Additionally, Financial Aid Director - Higher Ed. requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a senior institutional officer. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget.   • The Director of Financial Aid administers the financial aid program at Georgian Court University while maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations and college policies and procedures. The Director coordinates with other department directors the implementation of financial aid regulations, policies and procedures related to individual departments and the campus. Georgian Court University utilizes Slate, Powerfaids and Power Campus student information systems.  


    Essential Functions:

    • Provides administrative leadership to the Financial Aid Office.  Maintains a high level of professional competence in best practices in financial aid, program assessment, operational budgeting and a working knowledge of the college software system. Collaborates across departments for effective and accurate service to students.
    • Supervises professional and clerical staff assigned to the Financial Aid Office. Determines work priorities, trains, delegates assignments, and evaluates staff performance.
    • Attends virtual training and conferences to keep up to date on federal and state regulations through NASFAA webinars.  Provides staff training to ensure that staff is up to date with regulations.
    • Contributes to student satisfaction through delivery of quality customer service in all aspects of the administration of financial aid.
    • Ensures that students are informed about their eligibility for financial aid by developing and directing a system for collecting and evaluating applications, and for the timely and effective awarding of all types of financial aid.
    • Responsible for awarding endowed and annual scholarships and providing reports to Institutional Advancement.  
    • Works with the division of Enrollment Management in developing financial aid strategies.
    • Works with athletic coaches and the Assistant Director of Athletics in providing financial aid information for potential recruits. Signs NLI letters and maintains copies in the Financial Aid office.  Chairperson of the Student Athlete Appeals Committee.  
    •  Develops, revises, implements, and maintains financial aid policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations and institutional policies related to financial aid and scholarships. 
    •  Develops, revises and updates publications and documents relating to financial aid. Reviews and updates the financial aid website for needed changes.
    •  Maintains current knowledge of university financial aid policies, procedures, and programs.
    •  Responsible for compliance of federal, state, and institutional reports including applications for federal funding and reporting the expenditures of funds allocated, such as FISAP.
    •  Responsible for maintaining Title IV Participation Agreement with the U.S. Department of Education. Submits new programs for approval of funding and ensures compliance with Title IV aid programs.
    •  Responds to requests for information from state, federal and other agencies. Functions as the liaison in annual financial aid audits or program reviews performed at the institution. 
    •  Maintains fund award control records in accordance with funding level limitations in PowerFaids. Performs the Parameter Roll and updates all fields in PowerFaids. Notifies and schedules upgrades to Powerfaids with IT.  
    •  Resolves or assists with resolution of problems and/or complaints and initiates corrective action as appropriate. 
    •  Facilitates coordination and communication with other departments on campus. 
    •  Administers satisfactory academic appeal evaluation and oversee appeal process for students seeking reinstatement of financial aid eligibility.   
    •  Completes financial aid reporting for Athletics, EOF, TRIO and endowed and donor funded scholarships.


    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field. 
    • Five or more years of progressive financial aid experience.
    • Leadership, problem-solving, organizational and management skills required.
    • Demonstrated critical thinking skills to solve problems, analyze trends and provide recommendation.
    • Demonstratable working knowledge in disbursing, transmitting and reconciliation processes for Title IV and grant programs through HESAA and NJ FAMS.  
    • Demonstrable knowledge utilizing COD and other Department of Education resources.
