Financial Assistant (Public) provides assistance to the Public Financial Associates. Assists in the financing of taxable and tax-exempt bonds. Being a Financial Assistant (Public) prepares business reports, proposals, and presentations. Coordinates meetings and communications between all parties involved with transactions. Additionally, Financial Assistant (Public) verifies compliance with NASD and other regulations and completes all required filings for a deal. Familiar with underwriting policies, practices, and regulations. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Financial Assistant (Public) works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. The First Tennessee Development District is accepting applications for the position of TYEP Financial Assistant. Major responsibilities include procuring supportive service vendors, maintain Workers Compensation certificates of insurance and W9s for vendors, process bi-weekly checks for vendors and participants, monitor invoices for adherence to purchase orders including amounts, payment terms, and vendor addresses, and write the general ledger coding for fund and account on the invoice. Applicant must have knowledge of accounting principles and theory, auditing procedures, budgeting and purchasing procedures, business language, mathematics, and application of bookkeeping principles to financial transactions. A sound knowledge of internal controls and the ability to manage the flow of a considerable volume of detailed work is required. The position holder must be able to establish an effective working relationship with the public, contractors, grantor agencies, community agencies and colleagues. A proficiency in usage of 10 key calculators, office copier, fax machine, personal computers and related software is expected. The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing is mandatory. Accounting experience and/or education desired. Ability to work closely with others, knowledge of organization and structure of local, state, and federal government is highly desirable. Bi-weekly salary is $1,649.04.
