Financial Assistant (Public) provides assistance to the Public Financial Associates. Assists in the financing of taxable and tax-exempt bonds. Being a Financial Assistant (Public) prepares business reports, proposals, and presentations. Coordinates meetings and communications between all parties involved with transactions. Additionally, Financial Assistant (Public) verifies compliance with NASD and other regulations and completes all required filings for a deal. Familiar with underwriting policies, practices, and regulations. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Financial Assistant (Public) works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline.     Supervisory Responsibilities:

    • Provides guidance and mentoring to undergraduate student workers on shift.
    • Enforces College, local, state, & federal regulations on campus.
       

    Physical Requirements:

    • Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time, walk up and down stairs, and work in extreme temperatures. During emergencies, must be able to carry heavy amounts of weight. Perform other physical work to complete the safety and security tasks of the office.
       

    Job Summary:

    • Proactive community policing to ensure the safety & security of the College’s people & property.  Position will fill either early morning hours or early evening hours 5 days a week or a mix of the two. Must be willing to work through college breaks. This position will require working year round with the exception of 2 weeks off (Unpaid).

    Education and Experience:

    • High School diploma & Bachelor’s degree required.
    • Experience in Higher Education preferred.
    • Minimum of one year’s experience in Security/Law Enforcement/Military preferred.
    • CPR, First Aid, & AED certification preferred or required within 90 days of hire.
    • Required Training Completion within 6 months of hire:
      • Suspicious Activity Reporting (SAR) training by US Dept. of Justice
      • Certified Campus Protection Officer by NACSA
      • Introduction to Emergency Response to Terrorism (Q0890) by FEMA
      • Applicable training in NIMS / ICS for higher education
    • Requires clear criminal background check including PA and FBI Criminal background and Child Abuse History clearances as well as PA Act 153 clearance.
    • Position requires driver’s license of minimum of 3 years with clean driver history per college policy.
       

    Required Skills/Abilities:

    • Computer proficiency, preferably in Microsoft Windows operating systems & department software.
    • Self-starter and able to handle confidential matters.
    • Superior task prioritization and leadership skills required.
    • Must be able to respond appropriately to emergencies including medical emergencies.
    • Excellent interpersonal relationship skills required; must be able to interact competently, professionally, and calmly during routine and non-routine incidents (i.e. irate, irrational or intoxicated subjects).
    • Superior problem solving, decision making, judgment and analytical skills required; must be able to respond with calmness and clear-thinking during incidents having a high potential for danger/harm, while protecting basic legal rights of individuals and the College.
    • Knowledge of security, law enforcement, and College principles.
    • Understanding of patrol officer and investigative skills required.
    • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
    • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
       

    Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Assist with providing security for special campus events including but not limited to, Homecoming Weekend and Fall & Spring Commencement.
    • Conducting regular safety patrols and pro-actively addressing all concerns or questions. Patrols are primarily on foot and occasionally by Public Safety patrol vehicle, with appropriate training and direction.
    • Assume responsibility for operations in an area affected by an emergency such as in case of fire, bomb threats, catastrophe, and has authority to evacuate buildings, etc. Notify the Director of Public Safety or designee if these events occur.
    • Cooperate with the residence hall staff in handling emergency calls and initiating investigations.
    • Ensuring the safety of students, employees, and guests using community oriented policing concepts and community relationship/trust building.
    • Duties include enforcing campus rules and policies, upholding PA & Federal laws; report writing, emergency response; and acting as a College ambassador.
    • Contributing to a community environment by maintaining a visible and approachable presence and engaging with students and others on campus.
    • Educating and re-directing students and staff as needed.
    • Completing required documentation and reporting on a timely basis.
    • Participating in drills and other emergency preparation activities.
    • Assist the Director in furthering the mission of the Department & the Colleg
    • Responds to emergencies, routine and non-routine incidents and service calls. Writes clear and concise reports of all appropriate incidents, investigations, disciplinary proceedings, etc. Informs department leadership of important and irregular occurrences.
    • Reads professional literature (law enforcement, security, safety) and professional bulletins.
    • Requires evenings, overnights, & weekends including special event details.
    • Requires proactive patrol of the property during assigned shifts, as well as assigned administrative tasks.
    • Effectively relate to students, faculty, staff, and administrators, work within a team-oriented environment, prioritize tasks to provide appropriate service.
    • Serve as the point of contact for questions from student officers while on-shift when a shift supervisor is not present.
    • May deliver student & employee safety education programs in crime prevention, fire safety, & general safety topics in conjunction with the Dept. Director during shift.
    • Assist in other duties whenever called upon as needed for the good and welfare of the total College ministry.
       

    Equipment Used: Automobiles, radio dispatch system, multi & single line telephone, security and fire monitoring devices, building lock systems, fire extinguishers, OC spray, air monitors, automatic external defibrillators, surveillance system, personal computer, tablet pc, facsimile, and photocopying machines

    Software Programs Used: Microsoft Office; WhenToWork (online Scheduling), Omnigo (records management system), task management software, e-mail system, and related software programs.

    Building and Location: Reports to the Public Safety building/office. Work in all buildings of the campus & outdoors to complete the position responsibilities.

    Personal Protective Equipment/Clothing Required: Position requires the following personal protective clothing to be worn: safety glasses, rubber gloves, & masks. When driving or riding in College owned vehicles, must wear safety belts and comply with existing local, State, and Federal laws.

    Blood borne Pathogens: Position incumbent may be affected or come in contact with blood borne pathogens.

    Confidential Statement: Safeguards the confidentiality of departmental/office administration by exercising discretion in communicating information to faculty, students, administrators, and staff, and handling departmental records and files, personnel actions, performance evaluations, grade reports, merit, promotion and tenure decisions, and similar confidential materials. Must comply with the provisions of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
     

    Position is classified as essential personnel which means that working may be mandatory during campus & area-wide emergencies, including weather events at the discretion of the Department Director.
     

    Performs other related duties as assigned.
