Financial Assistant (Public) provides assistance to the Public Financial Associates. Assists in the financing of taxable and tax-exempt bonds. Being a Financial Assistant (Public) prepares business reports, proposals, and presentations. Coordinates meetings and communications between all parties involved with transactions. Additionally, Financial Assistant (Public) verifies compliance with NASD and other regulations and completes all required filings for a deal. Familiar with underwriting policies, practices, and regulations. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Financial Assistant (Public) works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline.   • Ledyard Public Schools is seeking a Central Office Administrative Assistant for Finance and Human Resources. This is a full time, year-round position at Ledyard Public Schools Central Office and is to fill an existing vacancy. Under the general supervision of the Director of Human Resources, the Administrative Assistant for Finance and Human Resources performs a wide variety of administrative duties related to Finance and Human Resources.

    Knowledge Skill and Abilities:

    • Provides administrative support to leadership and staff as requested
    • Creates forms, compiles and organizes data and information necessary for the efficient operation of the office
    • Communicates effectively in routine, sensitive, and confidential matters
    • Responds to routine questions and requests for the administration using various communication methods
    • Demonstrates a high degree of relationship management, fostering professional and effective interpersonal relationships to contribute to a positive working relationship with Ledyard Public Schools
    • Performs special assignments, studies, routine administrative functions and other related duties as assigned by the administration or designee.

    Examples of duties and functions:

    • Performs the day to day processing of accounts payable transactions.
    • Receives and verifies invoices and requisitions for goods and services.
    • Maintains Vendor files
    • Reconciles outstanding encumbrances
    • Prepares or assists with vendor checks for mailing.
    • Assist in the preparation of financial reports and filing of tax forms related to accounts payable.
    • Assist in the reconciliation of accounts payable to general ledger accounts.
    • Assist in various data entry projects completed in a timely and accurate manner.
    • Assist with the Maintenance of proper records of employee attendance and leaves
    • Support the recruiting and staffing efforts
    • Assist with the processing of benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations
    • Assist with maintenance, filing, and auditing of HR and Finance files
    • Performs other duties as assigned

    Qualifications:

    • Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience in an administrative support role
    • High school diploma required
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and decision making skills; ability to work with employees and the public in a professional, effective, and courteous manner
    • General knowledge of human resources practices and/or accounts payable preferred

    Physical Environment:

    • Works in a collaborative, busy office environment
