POSITION SUMMARY: Individual will assist in overseeing all aspects of compliance with Thruways Quality Management System (QMS) which is certified to ISO-9001 (as revised), and AS-9100 (as revised). This individual strives to continually improve company quality performance, customer satisfaction and the technical alignment of products to customers specs, prints, standards, fit, form and function. The position will provide on-site and remote tactical quality backup support to all 6 branch locations at Thruway.

This individual has responsibility and authority to carry out assigned tasks

ESSENTIAL TASKS:

• Lead efforts in gathering, organizing and preparing all quality documentation (Certifications, test reports, statements) from Thruway and our supply chain. Align required documentation with each outbound order. Work with all departments to troubleshoot missing documents to meet customer requirements.
• Assist Quality Lead or Quality Manager to perform the following:
  • Evaluate and review customer drawings and specifications against supply chain provided products to ensure products meet or exceed all requirements
  • Facilitate approval of alternate products as needed with Customer and Thruway teams
  • Hands-on and timely inspection of product using electronic inspection software (PQS)
  • Gauge and measuring device usage, calibration and maintenance
  • Act as point person between customer and Thruway supply chain on all branch quality issues. Systematically navigate and document effectively from: first awareness of issue, containment, root cause analysis and preventative/corrective action (CAPA) … until acceptance of long-term corrective action by customer and/or vendor
  • Gather, post and distribute quality metrics to branch (month end, quarter end and year-end)
    • On-time-performance (OTP), Parts-Per-Million (PPM) and returns with reason code
  • Physical inventories and warehouse functions as required and timely
  • Monthly safety walk-thru inspections as needed, work with Management to rectify findings
  • Training and ensuring branch personnel follow the Thruway quality manual (QM), procedures (PR), and work instructions (WI). Elevate non-compliance
  • Prepare for audits: Customer, Vendor and Certification as needed
  • Implement safety training, policy and reminders as created by Corp.
• Learn and implement concepts such as:
  • CAPA, 5S, TCM, Six-Sigma and Continuous Improvement

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Documented Experience (2 years) in a direct quality role or technical role required
• Experience in manufacturing environments and Electro/Mechanical hardware preferred
• OSHA 10HR course completion preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Safely operate forklift and pallet jacks
• Problem-solving, time-management, organizational and analytical ability
• Accuracy and meticulous attention to detail
• Proficient in MS Office Suite products and ERP systems

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and to climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds.

TRAVEL: The majority of the time will be spent onsite at a Thruway distribution facility. Day travel to other Thruway facilities (NY, PA) or customer locations may be required. Occasionally multiday travel to GA location may be required.
