Instead of wax poetic about the specific job duties of this role, we’re sharing qualities that every one of our Associates embodies. If you’re reading this and thinking to yourself, “Yes, this is me!” – make sure you apply. You might be exactly who we’re looking for!
You have an insatiable natural curiosity and an analytical mind. You want to dive deep and answer questions that haven’t been asked before. You’re not just checking out the first search result on Google. You tirelessly look for ways to improve yourself and things around you. Question-the-status-quo is your middle name. And, once you figure out a better way, you share it with those around you.
Logical reasoning comes naturally to you. In fact, it comes so naturally that your friends and family often look to you to explain difficult concepts in an accessible way. You’re the kind of person who jumps at an opportunity to help others around you, even if it may not fit perfectly into your assigned role. You see this as a way to learn, gain experience, and build comradery with your colleagues.
You crave autonomy and flexibility in how you work. You appreciate structure, but realize we’re not bureaucrats. You’re ready to be accountable for your own workload and know when it’s time to ask for help. We can all understand that finance is often a numbers game. Beyond that, though, you’re interested in and sensitive about the human experience. You are open to the fact that sometimes the “best” financial decision may not be the “right” decision for your client.
A little bit about the role…
As an Associate at WCF, you’ll take lead on the financial planning work for our clients. This could mean building the financial plans yourself or overseeing the work of an analyst on your team. A great Associate is someone who relishes both of those roles.
You have a few years in the industry which has allowed you to develop a strong understanding of financial planning. You can identify planning opportunities and are comfortable communicating those opportunities to clients. It’s common for an Associate to spend part of their day in Excel, so we are looking for someone who has the aptitude and desire to put together a financial puzzle. Eventually, you’ll help manage portfolios, too, but we make sure you have a solid background before expecting you to do so.
Your days revolve around your team’s meeting schedule (prepping, attending, and doing the follow-up work), and you spend a lot of time in Excel and our CRM system. We view this as a long-term career opportunity and hopefully you do, too! Our star people earn opportunities to advance based on merit, not time served.
A little bit about the benefits…
Access to a complete healthcare package: medical (with HSA & FSA options), dental and vision
Access to a retirement plan: 401(k) with a company match and safe harbor contribution
Wellness Program & Unlimited Vacation Policy
