JOB TITLE: Financial Counselor
POSITION SUMMARY: The employee assumes responsibility and accountability of admission/registration processes;
patient flow from pre-registration through dismissal, and initial financial arrangements for accounts. This position
supports an organizational culture for Service Excellence and practices the Service Excellence standards to all customer
groups.
Utilizes the appropriate skills in accepting responsibilities of assignments while exhibiting teamwork
techniques and effective communications which contribute to the overall operation of the department.
Understands, participates in, and contributes to quality improvement process for the Department and
Institution.
Applies appropriate policies and procedures, as set forth by the Department of Business Systems for
the purpose of assessing and communicating patient needs, from pre-admission through dismissal, by
obtaining demographic and financial information, with explanation and collection of payment
obligations and completion of appropriate applications for financial assistance. Cross-trains to other
job duties as deemed appropriate by Supervisor/Director. Accept additional duties as assigned.
Assumes responsibility for position’s impact on the departmental budget as it relates to the overall
functioning of the organization.

Qualifications:
EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:
1. High School diploma or GED
2. Minimum one year job related experience recommended
3. Intense customer/people interaction experience preferred
4. Recommend moderate to intense concentration and attention to detail
5. Typing skills
6. Computer experience desirable
