Financial Counselor - Healthcare jobs in Lorain, OH

Job Summary:

This is a clerical position that assists with the collection of delinquent patient accounts. Work is performed in accordance with NOMS policies and procedures/applicable federal and state laws. Effective performance requires independent action under general supervision.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Pulls various reports
2. Assist with legal action.
3. Assists in writing off accounts when patient file for bankruptcy.
4. Scans various essential documents
5. Handles deceased patient accounts
6. Handles collection letter and return mail
7. Maintains strictest confidentiality
8. Participate in educational activities
9. Other duties as assigned

Skills: 

1. Knowledge of medical billing/collection practices.
2. Knowledge of computer programs, spreadsheets and applications.
3. Ability to deal courteously with patients, staff and others.
4. Ability to communicate effectively and clearly.

Education and Work Experience:

• High school graduation or GED.
• Typing ability and Word processing/computer skills.
