Position Shift: Full-Time Monday - Friday 8-4:30pm
Position Summary:
The Financial Counselor coordinates the personal interaction with uninsured patients and underinsured patients to determine if they qualify for public assistance programs or hospital-based programs. Primary Responsibilities: Pre-screen uninsured and underinsured patients to determine if they are applicable referrals to State Agencies, manufacturer assistance programs, or hospital-based financial assistance. Meet new admissions to the hospital to ensure appropriate health insurance coverage has been determined. Counsel patient or family members and assists with completing the financial assistance application. Desired goal is to complete the application before patient discharge. Based on preliminary data, instruct the patient and family of any patient responsibility. Obtain a method and time frame for payment. Communicate to the patient as soon as possible the final determination of the financial application. Consistently apply all relative policies regarding the determination of financial assistance.
