Position Summary
The Financial Support Counselor reports to the Assistant Director for Support & Outreach and serves as a member of the Office of Financial Support and Scholarships customer service cluster. Primarily responsible for providing excellent customer service to current and prospective students and their families, by way of, counseling appointments, phone, front counter, email, and social media. The Financial Support Counselor will meet with students and parents to counsel them on financial aid processes, aid eligibility, costs and financial planning. Responsible for various internal/external financial aid outreach activities and financial literacy efforts to include small/large group presentations. Team member also responsible for screening Professional Judgment (PJ) paperwork and preparing files for discussion in PJ committee meetings, and will help determine if FAFSA adjustments can be made and update the Student Information System (PeopleSoft) when necessary. Will also be responsible for financial aid awarding/processing of specialized student populations.
