    General Function

    In alignment with CIRI’s mission and values, the Sr. Director, Financial Planning and Analysis plays a strategic role in analyzing and growing CIRI’s financial position. More specifically, this position is responsible for monitoring and communicating CIRI’s financial position and providing data, analytics, modeling, and recommendations for strategic financial plans that meet CIRI’s investment strategies. The position manages the financial modeling and reporting for CIRI’s 10-year investment strategies so that leadership has continuous access to expected performance and forecasted liquidity available to deploy for investment activities. The position is responsible for monitoring portfolio performance compared to the market and making recommendations on segment and investment mix to ensure the portfolio has a balanced risk level that provides a stable return while growing the company. Additionally, the position analyzes new investment opportunities and is a key member of the diligence team.


    Major Activities (Typical Duties/Responsibilities)

    1. Manage the development and monitoring of CIRI’s financial plans:
      1. Lead and coordinate CIRI’s long-range forecasting and reporting processes across all business segments.
      2. Oversee, manage and analyze timely and complete financial forecasts.
      3. Partner with the accounting team on monthly close and reporting processes by collecting, interpreting and reporting key financial data and business drivers.
      4. Measure and report on financial metrics by individual assets to evaluate the impact of new strategies.
      5. Provide financial analysis and operating metrics as needed for new investments and financing decisions.
      6. Analyze and prioritize investment opportunities.
      7. Research and analyze the impact of current macroeconomic and industry trends. for existing and future investment segments.
    2. Create and track high value benchmarks/KPIs for measuring financial and operating performance; recommend corrective actions as needed.
    3. Establish structures, routines and processes to elevate operational and strategic decision making.
    4. Prepare and distribute financial and operational analyses, commentary, and presentation materials for various internal and external stakeholders.
    5. Optimize financial planning solutions that leverage investment in data and technology.
    6. Identify operational gaps and develops process and procedure to address them.
    7. Lead, develop, manage and coach a team to meet the organization’s goals and mission.
    8. Perform other duties as appropriate and as assigned.


    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

    • Understand CIRI’s mission, values and strategic focus areas and incorporate knowledge into daily activities.
    • Expert knowledge of business valuation, financial ratios and financial analysis and the ability to apply that knowledge in a constructive manner to the evaluation of acquisition candidates.
    • Expert knowledge in analyzing financial data and performance to drive business results.
    • Expert knowledge to interpret and understand financial statements of both publicly owned and privately held companies, including knowledge of the practice of financial and investment analysis and business valuation as they pertain to both and an understanding of the typical terms, conditions and steps required to complete the acquisition or divestiture of business and real estate assets as necessary.
    • Ability to think strategically and operationally and lead organizational change with strong sense of ownership and accountability.
    • Ability to identify effective process improvements, setting clear objectives and apply financial best practices.
    • Demonstrated strong financial systems knowledge.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management and staff, affiliated-company employees as well as outside business associates; exhibits a professional manner in dealing with others.
    • Excellent written, verbal and technical skills appropriate for regular communication with company and subsidiary management and staff and a wide range for third party professionals.
    • Analytical and verbal skills necessary to participate in negotiating and evaluating the implications of the commercial terms of investment transactions and to interpret and discuss legal documents pertaining to new and existing investments.
    • Knowledge of (re)financing concepts with respect to appropriate structure, fees, borrowing rates, collateral, guaranties and other forms of credit support.
    • Analytical skills required to structure, supervise, analyze, evaluate and perform due diligence work.
    • Ability to quickly become familiar with new industry, regulatory, valuation and investment information and apply such information to investment analysis assignments.
    • Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills and financial-modeling skills to be able to develop and/or test and interpret complex pro forma spreadsheets, including projections for cash flow, income statement (GAAP and tax) and balance-sheet preparation.
    • Broad mathematical ability necessary to apply financial concepts to investment analysis including the ability to apply and understand the implications of concepts such as financial ratios, present value, discounted cash flow, residual values and internal rate of return; also the ability to understand and work with mathematical procedures such as trend analysis, probability and statistics, as well as accounting concepts such as expense vs. capitalize, operating vs. capital leases and rent vs. own decisions.
    • Experience working and motivating in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
    • Strong management and supervisory skills.
    • Strong project management skills for large and small projects, utilizing internal and external resources.
    • Ability to make decisions, solve problems and exercise excellent judgment.
    • Ability to work well under pressure and independently prioritize workload, while working on multiple projects.
    • High degree of sensitivity regarding confidential information.


    Minimum Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration or accounting, Master’s degree in applicable field strongly preferred.
    • CFA certification preferred.
    • Ten years of corporate financial analysis and/or planning experience, two of which were in senior manager or director role.
    • Two years of supervisory experience.
    • Fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
    • Ability to pass a background and driving record check.
