Financial Planning and Analysis Director leads the budgeting, forecasting, long-term planning, implementation, and business strategic analysis of the financial team. Conducts financial analysis, modeling, forecasting and reporting efforts to ensure efficient financial operations. Being a Financial Planning and Analysis Director reviews analysis results, develops insightful suggestions for investment, sourcing, cost reduction and leads strategic business decisions. Requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Financial Planning and Analysis Director typically reports to top management or CFO. The Financial Planning and Analysis Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Staff work a hybrid schedule with 2 days/week in the office
    The Financial Planning & Analysis Analyst will play a critical role with respect to budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, and special projects across the organization. The successful individual must be able to extract, analyze and interpret data to develop insights and drive change by introducing process improvements throughout the reporting process. The Analyst works within the finance function and collaborates with other staff at a regional and global level to support the organization.
    Role and Responsibilities:
    • Collaborates with cross-functional teams for process improvement initiatives and new system implementations.
    • Prepares ongoing financial and business-related analysis and research in financial performance, including cost analysis, rate of return, depreciation, working capital and investments.
    • Assists with the preparation and analysis of monthly and quarterly financial/operational reports presented to management for strategic purposes.
    • Develops and monitors personnel budget and forecast, in collaboration with Human Resources Director, including time/effort allocations to restricted funding.
    • Partners with program teams to accurately develop staffing costs associated with project proposals and ongoing project monitoring.
    • Evaluates optional plans in support of strategic initiatives by identifying outcomes and potential returns and support the development of financial models, including sources of information and verifying data.
    • Identifies financial trends by comparing and analyzing actual results with plans and forecasts.
    • Compiles verifies and analyzes financial information in order for senior management to have accurate and timely information for making strategic and operational decisions.
    • Performs routine and non-routine analysis and suggests creative solutions to improve financial performance or reduce costs.
    • Plays a key role in supporting de-centralized budgeting and reporting functions to increase knowledge, consistency and transparency.
    • Conducts and supports the continued development of Budgeting, Financial Forecasting, Operating Plans and Modeling tools in close collaboration with a cross-functional team.

    Qualifications and Education Requirements:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
    • 5 years experience in Financial Planning and Analysis.
    • Advanced proficiency level in Excel (advanced formulas; pivot tables; modeling, etc.) and PowerPoint (presenting information in a meaningful and concise manner).
    • Experience and understanding of Corporate Performance Management tools are preferred.
    • Deep knowledge of not-for-profit accounting is preferred.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
    • Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Auditing Standards.
    • Thorough understanding of methods of systems analysis and the principles, design, and procedural methods used in big data analysis.
    • Thorough understanding of project management.
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Excellent analytical and technical skills.
