Financial Reporting Accountant jobs in Lansing, MI

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for support of Financial Accounting function necessary to ensure the accuracy of Accounting data, preparation of financial statements and meeting company directed reporting requirements.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities: (Essential functions)

· General Ledger tasks including journal entries & account reconciliation.

· Preparation of monthly/quarterly/annual financial reports.

· Preparation of the annual company budget by coordinating with each department.

· Assist with monthly forecasts and variance explanations.

· Coordinate and assist with internal and external audits.

· Coordinate and assist with corporate tax engagements.

· Financial analysis for THK Japan (cash flow, budget vs. actual, etc.).

· Maintain system databases – SAP, credit card, etc.

· Review SAP interface data for errors and completeness.

· Prepare and process annual standard setting for the plant.

Additional Responsibilities:

· Assist with various responses including data driven analysis for leadership requests.

· Initiate banking transactions (ACH, wire, positive pay, bank template maintenance).

· Provide backup to various departmental functions as directed.

· Maintain Fixed Asset system including project spend, capitalization and depreciation.

· Perform cost scenarios for leadership and maintain costing within SAP.

· Support plant continuous improvement efforts through participation on various cross functional teams.

· Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field for a four-year university.

· One to three years experience in Accounting preferred.

· Excellent data management and computer skills required.

· Excellent verbal and written communications skills essential.

· Experience with SAP or other ERP system preferred.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, primarily Excel.

· Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize needs to meet deadlines.

· Ability to be flexible and perform as a leader within the Accounting department.
