HOURS:

This is considered a hybrid role for our Home Office in Milwaukee. A schedule of in-person at the Herzing University Home Office will be required based on commuting distance and business needs. The schedule will be determined based on business needs but is typically Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting.
• 2 years of public accounting experience required; CPA preferred.
• At least 1 – 3 years of Supervisory responsibility for accounting staff required.
• Proficiency using MS Office programs, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
• Proficiency user of accounting software; Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains is a plus.
• Non-Profit experience is a plus, but not required.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Oversight

• Manage and mentor Senior Financial Accountant and Financial Analyst.
• Review tasks performed by direct reports.
• Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
• Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information.
• Scrutinize and review/adjust balance sheet accounts.
• Identify and explain variances on the monthly financial reports
• Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

• Integration and reconciliation of payroll into general ledger.
• Collaborate with the other department managers to support overall department goals and objectives.
• Respond to inquiries from the CFO, Controller, Regional VPs, and Campus Presidents regarding financial results, special reporting requests and the like.

• Work with the Controller to ensure a clean and timely year end audit.
• Support the Controller in development and implementation of new procedures and workflow process improvements.

General Ledger Accounts and System Reports

• Define and maintain all general ledger accounts.
• Create/modify all required reports in financial reporting system.
• Ensure all general ledger account descriptions are current and included in all applicable reports.
• Ensure all reports are current and include correct general ledger accounts.
• Other projects or duties as assigned.
