Financial Reporting Director directs and oversees the preparation and distribution of all periodic financial statements for external use. Ensures that reports, filings and documentation complies with company's regulations, professional standards, and SEC and GAAP reporting guidelines. Being a Financial Reporting Director confirms that entries, transactions, and accounts are accurately and properly consolidated and are included in internal and external financial statements. Advises management of trends and changes in reporting requirements and recommends best approach for any changes in reporting. Additionally, Financial Reporting Director may serve as a liaison with or oversee the work of external auditors. May direct the preparation of materials for board or shareholders. Requires a bachelor's degree of Accounting or Finance. Typically reports to top management. The Financial Reporting Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure.   • What You'll Do

    We’re looking for a Manager of Reinsurance Financial Reporting to join our Benefits & Protection Finance & Accounting team. In this role, you’ll collaborate with the accounting research lead and actuarial team to conduct reinsurance and financing transaction accounting research, translate that research into initial and ongoing journal entries, and develop and oversee ongoing accounting processes. 

    • Transactions primarily related to external life and group reinsurance arrangements. 
    • Review legal documentation, connecting it to relevant GAAP and statutory accounting guidance and develop accounting conclusions.
    • Translate accounting research conclusions into initial and ongoing transaction journal entries.
    • Ownership of developing accounting conclusions and implications, both strategic and operational, to identify the financial impact, and achieving organizational objectives. Advise on actions or options to improve outcomes.
    • Point person for external life and group reinsurance, relationship management, and issue resolution.
    • In collaboration with subject matter experts, design and implement efficient and controlled accounting processes ensuring compliance with reinsurance agreements, relevant accounting standards and corporate guidelines.
    • Ensure processes are appropriately documented, backed-up and have appropriate review controls.
    • Proactively communicate relevant information to impacted parties.
    • Provide back-up and support for captive reinsurance arrangements.
    • Process improvement for external life and group external reinsurance accounting and reporting processes
    • Other duties across Benefits and Protection accounting and reporting team to be assigned as needed, including monthly close processing and statutory reporting.

    Who You Are

    • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or 8 years equivalent experience
    • 8 years of relevant experience required
    • CPA or other applicable certifications preferred
    • Reinsurance experience is ideal

    Salary Range Information

    Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
    Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

    $123000 - $167000 / year
    Time Off Program

    Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.
