Financial Reporting Director directs and oversees the preparation and distribution of all periodic financial statements for external use. Ensures that reports, filings and documentation complies with company's regulations, professional standards, and SEC and GAAP reporting guidelines. Being a Financial Reporting Director confirms that entries, transactions, and accounts are accurately and properly consolidated and are included in internal and external financial statements. Advises management of trends and changes in reporting requirements and recommends best approach for any changes in reporting. Additionally, Financial Reporting Director may serve as a liaison with or oversee the work of external auditors. May direct the preparation of materials for board or shareholders. Requires a bachelor's degree of Accounting or Finance. Typically reports to top management. The Financial Reporting Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Financial Reporting Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     Job Purpose:
    Reporting to the Associate Director of Financial Aid, the Assistant Director will oversee and coordinate campus initiatives related to student financing success and the strategic enrollment initiative to recruit and retain financially at risk students, as well as provide enhanced financing, loan, debt and credit counseling to all students through the use of a formal financing education program, and to liaison with the Director of Student Retention and Completion to coordinate and support student persistence and completion.

    Essential Duties:
    • Develop and continuously improve a comprehensive university-wide system that implements a Financial Wellness & Education Program for all undergraduate and graduate students that will provide financial aid & financing advice, loan & debt counseling and money management skills
    • Provide financial aid and financing guidance to targeted high need at risk incoming students, particularly Pell Grant eligible recipients and special needs populations for initial and succeeding academic years to ensure completion of all financial aid, financing and enrollment requirements and counsel students regarding cost of attendance, methods of payment and management of financial responsibilities
    • Provide support and guidance to enrolled students who are experiencing economic stress
    • Development and monitoring of a cohort tracking system in coordination with IT to monitor adherence of student requirements for participation in the new Student Financing Success Program
    • Liaison with Director of Student Retention and Completion, and Admissions, Bursar, Student Life and college Academic Advising staff to identify students experiencing financing difficulties and provide outreach support
    • Implement an enhanced entrance and exit loan counseling program with emphasis for students with abnormally high debt level trajectories
    • Counsel students and parents who have been denied federal and private educational loans
    • Serve as a member of a broadly representative strategic student success committee to track, assess and improve overall campus retention, persistence and completion practices and systems
    • Review and award financial aid packages for designated cohort compliant with federal, state and institutional policies and guidelines.
    • Disseminate Financial Aid Information to students, parents and applicants in person and group settings
    • Provide Financial Aid and financing counseling for students, parents and applications
    • Prepare and present financial aid information to students, parents and applicants in person and group settings
    • Verify needs analysis records with student and parent federal tax returns, asset review forms, federal verification forms, etc.
    • Contribute to the development, implementation and maintenance of policies and procedures and general office operations that ensure timely and accurate processing of financial aid, and compliance with federal, state and institutional aid rules and regulations

    Additional Skills Required:
    • Maintain knowledge and proficiency with technological skills required for performance of general and program specific duties used for the administration of financial aid
    • Attain and maintain a credit counseling certificate from a nationally recognized credit counseling organization
    • Maintain knowledge and proficiency of federal, state and institutional aid programs, including compliance and regulations through participation in training seminars, webinars and attendance at conferences
    • Proficient user of MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point) proficiency
    • Excellent organizational skills
    • Must maintain highest levels of accuracy and attention to detail
    • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
    • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
    • Knowledge of common office procedures including telephone etiquette
    • Must be able to support the Universitys commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture
    • Must be able to respect, support and contribute to the Universitys Catholic and Jesuit mission

    Minimum Education Requirements:
    • Bachelors degree is required

    Preferred Education:

    Minimum Job Experience Requirements:
    • Two (2) years of experience in financial aid or financing counseling or related experience
