Financial Reporting Manager is responsible for managing the preparation and distribution of periodic financial statements for external use. Ensures that reports, filings and documentation complies with company's regulations, professional standards, and SEC and GAAP reporting guidelines. Being a Financial Reporting Manager manages the financial reporting staff May work with external auditors to provide requested information. May assist with the preparation of materials for board or shareholders. Additionally, Financial Reporting Manager requires a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. Typically reports to a director. The Financial Reporting Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Financial Reporting Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required. Primary Function of Organizational UnitThe University Accounting Office is organized as a unit of the Division of Business and Finance with direct reporting responsibilities to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Business and Finance/Comptroller. The University Accounting Office has the functional responsibilities for the following operations:

—Endowment and Gift Accounting, Accounts Payable, Foundation Accounting
—University Travel Office – Tax Compliance and Reporting
The mission of the Accounting Office is to provide an effective and efficient financial reporting and cash management/disbursement operation within the Comptroller’s Office, which supports the instructional and research mission of the University
Minimum RequirementsBachelor’s degree with 12 credit hours of accounting coursework; or Associate’s degree in accounting; or Associate’s degree in business or related discipline with 12 credit hours of accounting coursework; or equivalent combination of training and experience- Experience in higher education and/or non-profit accounting.

- Tax reporting experience preferred
- Extensive knowledge of FASB and GASB accounting standards, internal controls, tax compliance, and supervisory skills.
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, EducationPrefer an advanced degree and/or a CPA designation
