Job Description
ProShop ERP is looking for a Financial Controller to join the Finance team to take our company’s finances to the next level!
The Financial Controller is responsible for corporate accounting and the execution and direction of financial controls to support corporate objectives and strategies. This position will perform general and cost accounting functions, manage and execute the financial close process, ensure tax compliance, report timely financial results, and coordinate outside audits to comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the CFO to make decisions for the accounting team and set strategic goals.
- Establish and maintain the organization’s accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives including general ledger, chart of accounts, and account analysis.
- Partner with the CFO to advise business functional leaders on complex financial accounting and reporting issues and current technical accounting developments.
- Support monthly financial reporting, ensuring timeliness and accuracy in the process and preparation of consolidated financial results.
- Oversee the annual audit process, serving as the key contact for external auditors.
- Collaborate with the CFO and FP&A organization to support the preparation of annual budgets and ongoing forecasts.
- Coordinate the provision of information to external tax accountants and ensure that sales tax reports, payroll taxes, property taxes, and annual reports are timely and accurately filed in all jurisdictions.
- Maintain accounting, financial reporting, financial control, and information systems to ensure adequate records, appropriate authorization of transactions, and asset safeguarding.
- Help build the Finance and Accounting department.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish and enforce financial controls and accounting procedures.
- Stay up to date with emerging technical accounting developments.
Requirements
- Must be based in North America
- Proven work experience as a Financial Controller
- 5 years of overall combined accounting and finance experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- CPA or CMA license
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures including GAAP
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close processes
- Excellent accounting software user and administration skills
- Multinational corporate structure and transfer pricing experience
- Previous leadership experience
- Experience building and leading accounting teams
- Mentoring and training employees
- Experience and in-depth understanding of SaaS technology/recurring revenue recognition standards
- Familiarity with subscription management platforms (Chargebee, Stax Bill, etc.)
- QBO experience and experience with a more robust ERP system
- Experience in a small/fast-paced company
- Experience with systems migrations/implementations
- Quick learner with multiple technologies (Excel, Google, Jira, etc)
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
- Strong documentation skills with an emphasis on clear, concise documentation for both technical and non-technical folks
- Meticulous attention to detail
Salary Range: This compensation range takes into account a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to geographic locations, job family, job-related skills, experience and relevant training or education, business and organizational needs.
US: $131,200 - $202,400 annually
CAD: $120,800 - $185,900 annually
