Please Note: Based on the compensation range we are advertising the starting salary offer will be determined based on the successful candidates’ qualifications within the budgeted salary range of $60,000 - $76,000 annually. However, there is ability for longevity growth and progression in salary for the individual once employed.
Our physical office is in Olympia WA. This position is flexible/hybrid, with the ability to work from home, and some travel to in-person activities, meetings, and events.
What this job is about:
As a Financial Analyst within the Fiscal and Operations Unit, you will aid in the Office of Financial Management's (OFM) mission to support and improve government on behalf of all Washingtonians. You will perform complex fiscal analysis to ensure vendor payments, general ledger account balances, and other areas of responsibility are in accordance with SAAM, GAAP, statutes, and regulations. During these analyses, you will also consult with executive leadership, agency management and staff within OFM, the Governor’s Office, Office of Independent Investigations and statutorily attached offices and commissions.

What you’ll do:
- Process invoices and travel vouchers for the Office of Financial Management in a timely and accurate manner.
- Perform complex general ledger reconciliations, analyze data to answer questions and resolve problems related to accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger balances. Reconcile, review, analyze and verify data from multiple sources and correct discrepancies as necessary.
- Access the Agency Financial Reporting System and Enterprise Reporting to analyze and interpret complex data, and prepare fiscal documents.
- Perform specialized accounting activities in the Agency Billing System, Computron accounts receivable system and create cash receipt documents.
- Perform fiscal year close activities related to accounts payable and fiscal close (accruals/reconciliations).
- Serve as the backup for the accurate and timely processing of all accounts payable invoices for Office of the Governor (GOV) and Office of Independent Investigations.
Required:- A Bachelor’s degree, which includes 18 quarter or 12 semester hours in accounting, auditing, or budgeting (professional experience may substitute for education, but not the required credit hours).
- Two years of relevant professional accounting experience, one year of which was performing advanced/complex accounting and /or fiscal analysis.
AND
- Knowledge of and experience with AFRS, SAAM and GAAP.
- Demonstrated ability to research and analyze information from multiple sources.
- Strong technical skills to produce quality work products using multiple types of Microsoft office products, various financial and reporting systems.
Desired:- Two years of increasing responsibility performing advanced or more complex accounting and/or fiscal analysis.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams, PowerPoint, Adobe Pro etc. Ability and willingness to learn and embrace virtual work/meeting/conference platforms.
