The Griswold Inn in Essex CT is seeking a full-time, year-round Dining Services Manager for our historic restaurant. They will be available to work lunch or dinner shifts and a flexible schedule that includes weekends. This is a customer service position that requires a minimum of two years’ experience in restaurant operations and supervision. The ideal candidate will be organized and possess above average verbal and written communication skills. They will report directly to the Dining Room Manager.
Responsibilities include:
-Work closely with the dining management team to ensure a consistent, high-quality, food and beverage product.
-Works hands-on with the service team as a host in dining room.
-Supervises the entire service team when manager is not present.
-Greet, seat and engage guests in a friendly and inviting manner.
-Processes checks and professionally resolves guest complaints.
-Communicates regularly with Chef and Kitchen Staff during a shift.
-Monitors dining room ambiance (music, lighting, temperature, orderliness).
-Assist other team members whenever necessary.
-Has the ability to open and close the lunch or dinner shift.
-Manages daily reservations and maintains the reservation book.
-Has experience working with POS, credit and cash handling systems.
