FIRE CAPTAIN manages a team of firefighters. Ensures all equipment is properly maintained and serviced. Being a FIRE CAPTAIN directs training and conditioning activities. Administers the staff work schedule to ensure adequate coverage. Additionally, FIRE CAPTAIN leads and coordinates responses to fire events, hazardous material incidents, auto accidents, and search and rescue operations. Prepares post-incident reports as required. Leads or coordinates fire safety education and inspection activities. Typically is required to pass periodic physical ability tests. May require registry in NREMT. Typically requires an associate degree in fire science. Requires Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - Basic. Typically reports to a manager. The FIRE CAPTAIN manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Boat Safe Great Lakes LLC is a Midwest training provider offering the National Safe Boating Council “On-the-Water” training for new boaters, yacht owners, younger skippers, and municipal first responders. Additionally, Boat Safe Great Lakes offers private lessons for boat dealerships and manufacturers under the Safer Boater & My New Boat programs. Boat Safe Chicago is a subsidiarity of Boat Safe Great Lakes and also coordinates yacht charters for clients ranging from professional athletes, artist and VIPs visiting Chicago.

Responsibilities:
Working as a contract training captain, the contractor will meet with the assigned student(s) at the designated time and location. Contractor will instruct the provided NSBC curriculum, as required by NASBLA and NSBC. Contractor will train, evaluate, and grade the student(s) boat handling skills and abilities. Contractors are also expected to actively engage in business development with dealerships, manufactures, marinas, harbors, maritime clubs, etc.
