Fire Fighter is responsible for rapid response to fires, accidents, and other emergencies to protect people, property, and the environment. Works with firefighting teams to control and extinguish fires and safely manage hazardous materials. Being a Fire Fighter performs search and rescue, responds to auto accidents, and provides emergency medical services. Uses and operates fire tools, equipment and apparatus as effectively and safely as possible. Additionally, Fire Fighter performs routine maintenance and inspection of firefighting equipment and gear to ensure proper condition and preparedness for emergencies. Prepares post-incident reports as required. May participate in fire safety education and inspection activities. Typically is required to pass periodic physical ability tests. May require registry in NREMT. May require an associate degree in fire science. Requires Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - Basic. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Fire Fighter works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. Job description
Hopkins County Fire Extinguisher, is seeking a licensed Fire Extinguisher (FEL type a or b) technician. Work will involve inspections, testing, maintenance, service and installation of various types of fixed and portable fire extinguisher.
Job Responsibilities
Performance of daily, weekly, monthly and/or annual inspections and preventative maintenance services on various extinguishers. Repair, replace, and tag all fire extinguishers, do hand written inspection reports, as well as all paperwork relating to assigned tasks in a timely manner.
Job Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Possess an understanding of NFPA and building and fire codes
Able to communicate effectively; both verbally and written
Valid drivers license
Own transportation
Job is commission based and can be discussed at interview
Able to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check
