Fire Fighter is responsible for rapid response to fires, accidents, and other emergencies to protect people, property, and the environment. Works with firefighting teams to control and extinguish fires and safely manage hazardous materials. Being a Fire Fighter performs search and rescue, responds to auto accidents, and provides emergency medical services. Uses and operates fire tools, equipment and apparatus as effectively and safely as possible. Additionally, Fire Fighter performs routine maintenance and inspection of firefighting equipment and gear to ensure proper condition and preparedness for emergencies. Prepares post-incident reports as required. May participate in fire safety education and inspection activities. Typically is required to pass periodic physical ability tests. May require registry in NREMT. May require an associate degree in fire science. Requires Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - Basic. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Fire Fighter works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job.     The successful Fire Sprinkler Fitter must be dependable and mechanically inclined in laying out, fabricating, assembling, installing, and maintaining piping and piping systems, fixtures, sprinkling, and industrial processing systems.

    Responsibilities:

    • Install pipe systems and valves
    • Cut, thread, assemble and bond piping and tubes according to specifications
    • Modify, clean and maintain pipe systems, units and fittings
    • Remove and replace worn components
    • Follow blueprints to meet product specifications
    • Calculate material measurements to verify specifications
    • Mentor and coach Fire Sprinkler Fitter Apprentice’s and Helpers on proper installation techniques

    Requirements:

    • Advanced technical school training or related work experience preferred
    • Basic knowledge of hand tools, including electric and battery-powered equipment
    • Proficient in basic computer skills
    • Demonstrate problem-solving skills
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
    • Must be able to lift 10-50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally
    • May be exposed to temperature changes, small spaces, and confined spaces
    • High school diploma or GED
    • Current Fire Sprinkler Licensee
