Fire Inspector jobs in Atlantic City, NJ

Fire Inspector conducts inspections of new and existing buildings to ensure compliance with fire and safety codes. Prepares reports and issues violation documents. Being a Fire Inspector documents and defines actions needed to resolve non-compliance situations. Conducts fire investigations. Additionally, Fire Inspector has extensive knowledge of codes, ordinances, construction materials, and alarm systems. Typically requires an associate degree in fire science or equivalent. Has completed fire inspection training and may require the Certified Fire Inspector I (CFI) credential and applicable State License. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Fire Inspector is capable of working on complex problems and exceptions without direct supervision. Has a wide and comprehensive understanding of both general and specific aspects of the job.     Job Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent required
    • Any trade experience preferred; at least 2 years' trade experience a plus
    • Previous experience in the fire protection industry preferred
    • Good verbal / written communication & customer service skills
    • Mechanical & math aptitude
    • Exceptional computer skills
    • Professional and organized

    Licenses and Certifications Required

    • Valid state drivers license
    • NICET Certification is preferred (or willingness and ability to obtain)

    Physical Demands and Work Environment:

    • Industrial, Commercial, & Residential building environment with moderate to high noise levels, and comfort with working at heights
    • Mostly a physical demanding role. Majority of the daily demand is standing and walking stairs and climbing ladders
    • May need to lift objects up to 50 pounds
    • Ability to be on the phone and computer consistently throughout the day.
