Fire Inspector conducts inspections of new and existing buildings to ensure compliance with fire and safety codes. Prepares reports and issues violation documents. Being a Fire Inspector documents and defines actions needed to resolve non-compliance situations. Conducts fire investigations. Additionally, Fire Inspector has extensive knowledge of codes, ordinances, construction materials, and alarm systems. Typically requires an associate degree in fire science or equivalent. Has completed fire inspection training and may require the Certified Fire Inspector I (CFI) credential and applicable State License. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Fire Inspector is capable of working on complex problems and exceptions without direct supervision. Has a wide and comprehensive understanding of both general and specific aspects of the job. Job Duties:
*Provide installation, service, and/or repair of overhead wet-pipe, dry-pipe, and pre-action fire sprinkler systems
*Provide these services on new systems, retro-fits, tenant improvements, and residential dwellings
*Maintain a safe and secure work environment by following OSHA and company safety programs
Qualifications:
*Working knowledge of NFPA 13, 13R, 13D, and 25
*Ability to be compliant with code and remain up to date with current fire suppression systems. Ability to solve problems using NFPA code
*Working knowledge in the installation of steel pipe and CPVC
*Working knowledge and understanding of how to read and interpret fire sprinkler and architectural plans
*Must be self-motivated, possess accountability, exceptional communication and organization skills, attention to detail, and a professional appearance at all times.
*Ability to learn new skills and technology
*Pay based on trade related experience
