Fire Inspector conducts inspections of new and existing buildings to ensure compliance with fire and safety codes. Prepares reports and issues violation documents. Being a Fire Inspector documents and defines actions needed to resolve non-compliance situations. Conducts fire investigations. Additionally, Fire Inspector has extensive knowledge of codes, ordinances, construction materials, and alarm systems. Typically requires an associate degree in fire science or equivalent. Has completed fire inspection training and may require the Certified Fire Inspector I (CFI) credential and applicable State License. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Fire Inspector is capable of working on complex problems and exceptions without direct supervision. Has a wide and comprehensive understanding of both general and specific aspects of the job. Our talented Inspectors test and inspect installed fire sprinkler and alarm systems to determine the adequacy of the system design and to verify all equipment is functioning properly. He/she will direct the activities of their assigned Helper and train him/her on the proper way to inspect fire sprinkler and alarm systems. He/she develops a strong relationship with the customer to exceed all their expectations and ensure a quality, timely inspection is achieved.
Up to $5000 Sign on Bonus

This critical position will establish a rapport and build positive relationships with our customers, AHJs, and fellow team members. Day to Day
1. Inspects and tests installed fire sprinkler and alarm systems to determine the adequacy of the system design and to verify all equipment is functioning properly. Visually inspects the entire building to identify corroded heads or other hazards, operates valves to ensure they open and shut, makes sure bells ring, flushes system, identifies obstructions, etc.
2. Completes required inspection reports including deficiencies on the condition of installed fire sprinkler and alarm systems and forwards reports to required parties.
3. Schedules inspections, service, pump tests, walk throughs, etc.
4. If qualified, may perform service work such as replacing valves, gauges, flow switches, tamper switches, etc.
5. Communicate with customer to schedule inspections and verify proper clothing to be worn on jobsite.
6. Train Helpers to ensure they are ready for promotion.
7. Ensure all work and safety rules are followed.
8. Keep company vehicle clean and serviced.
9. Keep work areas clean, safe, and orderly at all times.
To be hired at WAFS as an Inspector, you must possess 3 years of fire sprinkler and alarms inspections experience and a NICET II certification or equivalent. If you don’t have this, we will help you obtain it through paid training and testing. FASA/BASA and backflow certifications are preferred.
This position is eligible for a sign on bonus and relocation assistance. We also require the ability to supervise each project and all Helpers working on the job site.
