Fire Inspector jobs in Louisville, KY

Fire Inspector conducts inspections of new and existing buildings to ensure compliance with fire and safety codes. Prepares reports and issues violation documents. Being a Fire Inspector documents and defines actions needed to resolve non-compliance situations. Conducts fire investigations. Additionally, Fire Inspector has extensive knowledge of codes, ordinances, construction materials, and alarm systems. Typically requires an associate degree in fire science or equivalent. Has completed fire inspection training and may require the Certified Fire Inspector I (CFI) credential and applicable State License. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Fire Inspector is capable of working on complex problems and exceptions without direct supervision. Has a wide and comprehensive understanding of both general and specific aspects of the job.     Position Summary:

    Responsible for testing and inspecting wet, dry, and pre-action systems in commercial and healthcare settings. Reports deficiencies to service manager and customer. Providing superior customer service

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    1. NICET III ITM Water based systems and/or NICET Level IV Fire Alarm. Equivalent experience will be considered assuming individual pursues NICET education.
    2. Strong working knowledge of life safety and NFPA codes.
    3. Working knowledge of sprinkler controls, alarm panels, devices and critical components.
    4. Able to perform testing and maintenance.
    5. Able to complete documentation as necessary.
    6. Able to coordinate between inspection deficiencies and service required to correct found deficiencies.
    7. Attend seminars from time to time to stay abreast of changing technology, installation and testing approaches.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

    High School diploma, technical or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

    Valid driver's license is required. Must meet the state requirements for Sprinkler and Alarm Inspections.

    Other Qualifications:

    • Must be able to comply with Drug and Alcohol policy and Background screening requirements, which may also include customer specific requirements based on contractual agreement
