Fire Inspector jobs in Schenectady, NY

Fire Inspector conducts inspections of new and existing buildings to ensure compliance with fire and safety codes. Prepares reports and issues violation documents. Being a Fire Inspector documents and defines actions needed to resolve non-compliance situations. Conducts fire investigations. Additionally, Fire Inspector has extensive knowledge of codes, ordinances, construction materials, and alarm systems. Typically requires an associate degree in fire science or equivalent. Has completed fire inspection training and may require the Certified Fire Inspector I (CFI) credential and applicable State License. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Fire Inspector is capable of working on complex problems and exceptions without direct supervision. Has a wide and comprehensive understanding of both general and specific aspects of the job. Fire Sprinkler Designer

  • RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Design automatic fire sprinkler systems (wet, dry, foam, and fire pumps)
    • Compile and prepare plan submittals (shop drawings) and material submittals for review by architects, engineers, clients
    • Perform on-site surveys & job walks as needed
    • Coordinate sprinkler design with existing structure and other MEP subcontractors
    • Communicate with Estimating and other departments to optimize design efficiency for fabrication and installation of systems
    • Perform hydraulic calculations for fire sprinkler systems
    • Detail the design for fabrication and prepare installation drawings
    • Prepare “as-built” drawings for in-house archive and client files

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Three to five years related experience or equivalent preferred.
    • Thorough knowledge of fire sprinkler design & installation principles.
    • NICET I-II in Water Based Systems Layout
    • Commitment to excellence and high standards.

    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
    • Ability to manage priorities and workflow.
    • Demonstrated ability to plan and organize projects.
    • Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite AutoCAD, Revit, HydroCAD.

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
