Fire Inspector jobs in Winston Salem, NC

Fire Inspector conducts inspections of new and existing buildings to ensure compliance with fire and safety codes. Prepares reports and issues violation documents. Being a Fire Inspector documents and defines actions needed to resolve non-compliance situations. Conducts fire investigations. Additionally, Fire Inspector has extensive knowledge of codes, ordinances, construction materials, and alarm systems. Typically requires an associate degree in fire science or equivalent. Has completed fire inspection training and may require the Certified Fire Inspector I (CFI) credential and applicable State License. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Fire Inspector is capable of working on complex problems and exceptions without direct supervision. Has a wide and comprehensive understanding of both general and specific aspects of the job.     Responsibilities:

    • Complete layout, fabrication, installation, repair, and maintenance of fixed fire protection systems.
    • Follow manufacturer instructions, codes/standards, and Company policies.
    • Interpret blueprints for proper system installation, repair, and maintenance.
    • Verify and select materials according to job specifications, tracking and communicating material needs.
    • Organize and prepare materials and equipment for job sites.
    • Identify and communicate necessary changes to proposed work to Field Supervisor.
    • Plan installation/repair sequence to minimize impact on customer activities.
    • Cut, thread, and bend pipes, joining and securing them using proper standards and techniques.
    • Maintains clean and neat job sites.
    • Upholds Eagle Fire's reputation in all transactions.
    • Commit to working until obligations are met, potentially involving overtime.
    • Complete continuing education for required certifications/licenses.
    • Perform other related duties as required.

    Qualifications:

    • Self-starter, able to work independently
    • 2 years of industry experience in Sprinkler Install and Service on Wet, Dry, Pre-action and Deluge systems.
    • Read and interpret diagrams, blueprints, and design specifications.
    • Experience with trade tools and equipment such as pipe threader and groover
    • Able to meet state licensing requirements and/or vendor certifications.
    • Fire Sprinkler Manufacturer’s Certifications
    • NICET certification
    • Has practical knowledge of fire protection codes and standards
    • Excellent customer service skills
    • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record for the last 5 years
    • Ability to stand for long periods, lift, crouch, reach, handle, push, and pull
    • Willingness to travel and stay out of town as needed
    • Comfortable working in various temperature conditions and exposure to loud sounds
    • Fluent in English, effective communication skills
