Job Summary/Overview:
Fire Protection Engineer responsible for FP/FA system design code compliance and safety for new facilities and retrofit project. Manage the review of engineering design projects for fire code compliance that may be technically complex, highly visible, or priority projects to verify all pertinent fire code issues are addressed. These projects will require a high level of technical proficiency in the application of the International Fire Code, International Building Code, and various NFPA standards, as well as site specific standards.
Specific Job Duties:
Ensure the Fire Protection System design is in compliance with all local & federal regulations and NFPA codes.
• Coordinate LSS system basic and detail design in order to protect life, property and ensure project meet industry codes.
• Prepare Data Sheets, Statements of work, Procurements Specifications and design build specifications.
• Maintain and report project information with internal and external project stakeholders such as EHS, Facilities. Operations and Maintenance, and engineering teams related to the project scope.
• Organize and schedule meetings and present project updates to management teams as the single point of contact.
• Facilitate team documentation and development of site facilities construction specifications and standard operating procedures.
• Coordination of continuous improvement of life safety system installations and performing regular site field observation for implementation of best practices and development of new project work.
• Review and report scope change requests related to cost and schedule.
• Review, approve, monitor, and communicate all ongoing design work.
• Proactively perform risk mitigation through all aspects of the project scope to improve safety and maintain code compliance.

Skills and Qualifications:
Education, Training, Certification(s) and Minimum years of experience required
Required skills and experience:
• A minimum of 8 years of experience with a 2 Year degree. An associate degree in Fire Accreditation Program, Science, Math, Engineering or related degree, and/or equivalent experience.
Preferred skills and experience:
• Low voltage experience.
• Understanding of PLCs and fiber network.
• 8 years’ experience with Life Safety Systems. Design, construction and commissioning of Fire Sprinkler, Fire alarm, MNS, VESDA.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Software, and Tools
• Knowledge of International Fire Code, IBC, NFPA and OSHA is required.
• Experience with Life Safety Network Systems Design. (FA/FP, FARS, VESDA, ERRCS, MNS)
• Understanding of PLC Panels, equipment, and software.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.).
• Experience at a Semiconductor Manufacturing facility (FAB) preferred.
• Must be a team player with good organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Able to multitask, and work independently when necessary.
