Senior Fire Protection Design Engineer

Job Description:

• Designs layout of sprinkler systems using AutoCAD/HydraCAD/Revit programs
• Maintains current knowledge of NFPA 13 by attending seminars and conferences
• Document and communicate any fire protection issues with FVFS management and fire inspectors
• Reviews construction contract documents and collaborates with general contractors/owners to gather the required information to design the project’s sprinkler system
• Performs field surveys and identify code issues and solutions
• Attends coordination and job progress meetings
• Creates fabrication/stock listing for system components and purchase materials throughout project
• Monitors progress and financial metrics throughout project ensuring compliance with schedule and budgetary guidelines
• Prepares and distributes material equipment, hydraulic calculations and close out procedures/O&M manuals, as necessary, to AHJ’s/owners/architects/engineers/insurance companies
• Coordinates with Sprinkler department within office to ensure proper handoff of job information
• Develops and maintains positive relationships with customer to ensure FVFS meets customer expectations
• Maintains the ability to be self-motivated and prioritize work to balance multiple projects and deadlines
• Identifies changes in project scope that impact cost, schedule and labor
• Creates and submits change orders in a timely manner
• Preserves communication and cooperation with Fox Valley Fire and Safety staff, trains junior staff as needed
• Follows Fox Valley Fire and Safety policies and procedures
• Other miscellaneous duties as assigned
