Job description

The Inspection and Testing of Water Based Systems, NICET Certified Technician, will be joining the Optimum Fire & Security Federal Team in support of various projects in the local North Carolina and South Carolina market.

NICET Certified Fire Sprinkler Systems Inspector/Technician Responsibilities:

• Interpret and apply applicable Codes and Standards including IBC, IFC, and NFPA 13, 20, 22, and 25
• Perform fire sprinkler inspections, and fire pump inspections in a multitude of differing environments, structures, and settings
• Extensive knowledge of fire sprinkler/fire pump systems
• Extensive knowledge of building reports
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to read installation and system manuals
• Ability to read blueprints and building plans
• Extensive knowledge of sprinkler and fire codes
• Ability to use hand and power tools

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Vocational/technical/ school training is highly preferred; on-the-job training may be provided
• Two years of related experience preferred

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods standing, kneeling, bending, and climbing ladders
• Physically able to install system hardware
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time
• Comply with all Company, Client, and Federal safety policies
• Inspect new or existing installations, prepare reports, and make recommendations

NICET Certified Fire Sprinkler Systems Inspector/Technician Requirements:

• Minimum NICET Certification in Water-Based Fire Protection Systems ITM
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to solve basic math problems including geometry and algebra
• Ability to complete site surveys, identify code issues, and find solutions
