Under the direct supervision of the Chief Wellness Officer, this position provides fitness instruction, markets and monitors classes, educates patrons on fitness and safety, and maintains a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for participants. We pay our instructors at a premium rate to self-promote, scale, support, and teach quality fitness classes for the Dekalb County and Greater Garrett Community. Responsibilities
Primary Job Duties - Fitness Instructor:
- Teaches scheduled classes, beginning and ending on time; providing adequate warm-up, exercises, stretching and cool down.
- Instructs patrons on effective workout methods, explains proper techniques, demonstrates exercises; identifies different muscle groups, and teaches appropriate methods to strengthen specific muscles.
- Prepares music, routine and needed equipment before class time.
- Assists participants, answers questions, and maintains positive experience for all class participants.
- Completes all other duties as assigned by the Chief Wellness Officer.
Additional Job Duties:
- Participate in all required trainings, initiatives, and meetings.
- Maintain cleanliness, inventory, upkeep of the wellness department’ class equipment.
- Report any concerns to the Chief Wellness Officer.
- Keep all personal qualifications up to date.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have have availability to teach a minimum of two classes per week between 5:00-8:00pm. Saturday availability preferred as well.
- Extraordinary interpersonal communication and the ability to interact well with the public is a must.
- Currently certified in CPR/First Aid/AED, be certified within 60 days of hire, or be certified at the next JAM hosted training, as directed/documented by the Chief Wellness Officer.
- Certified Instructor certification is recommended (ACE, AFFA, NETA, or Specialty Certification)
