What do Fitness Attendants do?

The Fitness Attendant delivers excellent service to all members, guests, and program participants. Responds to member and guest needs, promotes wellness appointments, programs memberships; maintains cleanliness and organization of all workout areas in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. Fitness Attendant must role model the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility, and work daily to develop personal and meaningful relationships with members, volunteers, donors, and community.

• Implement and monitor the general program orientations and trainings, which cater to members’ health and fitness goals
• Utilize tools and information for the purpose of increasing members’ knowledge of fitness, as well as other programs provided through the YMCA
• Ensure phones are answered messages communicated; members and customers are handled appropriately. Ensure administrative support is available for other duties that may arise
• Responsible for the cleanliness of fitness areas and equipment
• Provideexceptional customer service and fosterconnections with members
• Ensure building, grounds, and equipment are in working order. Report any concerns

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Group Exercise or Personal Training Certificate preferred
• Previous related work experience preferred
• Complete required certifications within 30 days of hire
• Complete all required Branch and Position specific trainings as required within two weeks of hire
• Ability to obtain a criminal record clearance
