Job Summary

A licensed paramedic experienced in emergency medical services, who is responsible under the direction and supervision of the Emergency Department Physician and Unit manager for providing high quality patient care according to established standards of performance, the philosophy and objectives of Avera McKennan Hospital, and the Careflight Program. This position may be required to float to bases when aircraft is out of service and other base location has a vacant shift.

Education and/or Experience

• Three years of field experience in ALS ambulance, previous teaching experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
• Required to be proficient in all EMS skills and familiar with various EMS training techniques. 
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.

CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE, and/or REGISTRATIONS 

• National Registration as an EMT Paramedic required.
• South Dakota License as an EMT-Paramedic required.
• North Dakota License as an EMT Paramedic required within 90 days from the date of hire.
• Must obtain the Flight Paramedic-Certification (FP-C) within two years from the date of hire. 
• This position requires a valid driver’s license and that the employee is insurable by the Avera Health automobile liability insurance carrier.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience. 

• $22.00 - $31.75 per hour
