FIXED WING PILOT – Part Time (Mosquito Control): Provides as needed aviation services to Beaufort County Mosquito Control (BCMC). Duties include piloting BCMC aircraft at a low level and low light for aerial mosquito control applications, applying pesticides to control adult and immature mosquitoes, assisting with maintenance and calibration flights, maintaining aircraft and flight logs in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations. This position reports directly to the Chief Pilot.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must possess and maintain valid FAA Commercial Pilots License with helicopter or multi-engine rating
• 1,500 hours total time
• 500 hours multi-engine time or 500 hours helicopter time with 100 hours in turbine powered helicopter
• Three (3) years previous experience or training in aerial application of pesticide or equivalent type low level flying as a PIC
• Experience with “Low Level” (typically 200 ft. AGL) and “Congested Area” flights
• Flight qualifications must be approved by insurance carrier
• Must possess (or obtain within six months of hire date) and maintain valid South Carolina Certified Pesticide Applicator License (including Category 8 – Public Health Pest Control and Category 11 – Aerial Application of Agricultural Chemicals)
• Must possess and maintain FAA Class II Medical Certificate
• Must be able to lift up to forty (40) pounds
• Must be able to work independently
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with a good driving record
• Computer proficiency
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

SALARY: $40.00 hour / DOQ
