Fleet Manager manages the acquisition, operations, and maintenance of the organization's fleet of motor vehicles. Oversees scheduling and dispatch operations for vehicles and drivers. Being a Fleet Manager evaluates, purchases, leases, and disposes of vehicles to maintain the fleet. Develops and maintains vendor and service provider relationships for fuel, maintenance, and other essential services. Additionally, Fleet Manager administers insurance policy coverage, negotiates agreements, and participates in claim resolution. Develops and implements safety, preventive maintenance, and accident prevention programs. Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and fleet-specific regulations, licensing, registration, and reporting requirements. Description
The Fleet Manager oversees the maintenance and operation of our fleet of ready mix concrete mixers, semis, aggregate haulers, cement tankers and other company vehicles, working closely with other departments to ensure our vehicles are safe, reliable and well maintained, and for managing a team of mechanics at various locations to ensure efficient and effective operations.
Requirements
Lead, manage and mentor a team of mechanics across multiple locations, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluation.
Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure safe and efficient fleet operations.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to remotely troubleshoot equipment issues in an intensely time critical environment.
Monitor vehicle performance and identify areas for improvement, utilizing various software applications to track, document and assess multiple data points on relevant maintenance and key equipment performance indicators. Familiarity with telematics and fleet management software is a plus.
Oversee vehicle maintenance schedules and inspections, ensuring that all necessary repairs and maintenance are completed on time.
Manage inventory, supplies and equipment to support shop operations.
In depth knowledge of federal and state transportation regulations and safety standards. Ensure all DOT equipment files are maintained and are compliant with DOT regulations. Maintain all licensing, permitting and regulatory fleet requirements.
Work closely with other departments to ensure that fleet operations are integrated with overall company operations and schedules.
Bachelor’s degree in diesel technology, engineering, or related field.
5 years experience in fleet management or related field.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively train and collaborate with mechanics, drivers and employees at all levels.
Demonstrated leadership ability, maintaining positive relationships with key interfaces (drivers, plant managers, dispatchers and contractors) and contribute to our team based environment.
Ability to work flexible shifts including early mornings, nights and weekends when needed.
Ability to pass pre-employment processes including criminal background check and drug screen.
Must possess a current valid CDL.
The position requires walking, bending, climbing, crawling, overhead reaching, kneeling, balance and push/pull/lift 50lbs.
