Western Flyer Express is seeking Fleet Managers in our Omaha, NE, Kansas City, MO, and Springfield, MO, Terminals to support our ever-growing fleet of drivers. 

The successful candidate will be a proven change manager with a strategic approach and experience in vehicle management at a senior level, with strong technical and commercial skills, a customer-focused approach, and an ability to react quickly in a dynamic emergency service environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Fleet Manager is responsible for all communication and management of trucks and drivers assigned to their board.

All duties and responsibilities are aligned with Production, Retention, On-Time Service, and Safety.

• Maintain accurate driver information in TMS, e.g., ETA’s, PTA’s, RDO’s, Time Off Requests, etc.
• Check-call EVERY truck multiple times per day to assist with compliance in all aspects of Production, Retention,
• On-Time Service and with Safety being our first priority
• Develop positive rapport and relationships with drivers through effective satellite and verbal communication
• Coach drivers and help them manage their time to improve daily and weekly mileage and service performance continually
• Continually be aware of and interact positively and professionally with drivers
• Communicate shop needs to maintenance in a timely manner with diligent follow-up
• Identify and resolve swaps needed on board
• Act as the voice of the driver and interact professionally with Load Planners and Customer Service Representatives
• Communicate and work as a team player with all departments, e.g., Maintenance, Safety, Recruiting, etc.
• Provide prompt notification to Load Planners and Customer Service Representatives as issues arise
• Assist other driver managers with swaps needed and be able to cover for them in their absence.
• Maintain compliance with all applicable company policies and procedures
• Work closely with safety and counsel drivers as needed regarding HOS and safety violations

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and
• external customers, colleagues, and managers
• Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel, and Outlook)
• Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
• Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within the parameters of instructions given prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
• 1-2 years of dispatch/driver management experience preferred

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards
• Must be able to talk, listen, and speak clearly on the telephone
