Duties

Charleston Diesel Medic is currently looking for a Preventative Maintenance Technician to join our team. While in this role, you will be required to complete preventative maintenance on diesel engines in heavy equipment, generators, and/or trucks. The ideal candidate will have the ability to diagnose minor breaks and repair them. This position requires you to have:

• Experience with small and large engine repairs (minor repairs)
• Experience performing preventative maintenance on heavy equipment
• Experience operating and inspecting machines and/or vehicles
• Experience preparing work orders and ordering parts
• Maintaining a clean and safe work space
• Diesel technician or mechanical degree a plus, but not required
• Must be able to work independently

• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid Driver’s License
• Clean 10 year Driving Record
• Diesel or mechanical degree preferred, but not required
• Experience working with diesel engines (small engines required, large diesel engines a plus)
• Must have mechanical skills and understanding
• Basic computer skills required
• Basic math skills
• Strong communication skills - both verbal and written
• Strong human relation skills required

Overview

This role requires a general knowledge of heavy equipment, vehicles, and small engines. You must be able to stand for 8 hours a day, lift at least 50 pounds multiple times a day, and be able to drive a commercial vehicle daily. General computer skills, math skills, and human interaction skills are required. Ability to work independently and complete tasks given in an efficient and safe manner are required. Problem solving skills are a plus. Must be able to communicate professionally with customers and vendors daily.
