L.O. Eye Care is seeking a full-time Float Patient Coordinator for all locations. Interested candidates must work well with others, show leadership qualities, organizational and time management skills, a positive attitude and dependability. On the job training skills provided.
Summary
Greets patients in a warm, friendly and professional manner. Facilitates patient Check-In, Check-Out and performs multiple other clerical duties. Fosters and maintains a collaborative team environment within their location.
Supervisory responsibilities
The Patient Coordinator administratively reports to the Patient Services Manager and operationally reports to the Clinical Manager. No supervisory responsibilities.
Essential functions
The following list is a summary of the key functions of the job and may not be inclusive of all duties assigned.
- Demonstrates quality patient service during interactions with patients, coworkers and vendors.
- Collects patient information, creating and updating demographic files for registration purposes.
- Utilizes practice management computer system for inputting patient information and appointment status.
- Functions as informational resource, educating patients and answering questions regarding medical authorizations, insurance coverage and specific locations within the facility. Consults with appropriate staff/supervisor for answers to patient questions that are not known and delivers information in a time efficient manner.
- Functions as a cashier for clinic and optical, billing charges not paid at time of visit.
- Reviews patient information, collecting of insurance data and checks for eligibility for check-in purposes.
- Schedules necessary follow up appointments, procedures/tests and consults with other specialists for check-out patients.
- Opens office at the beginning of each business day or coordinates responsibilities with another staff member.
- Closes facility after last patient has checked out, making sure the cash drawer is balanced and successfully completes the reconciliation process.
- Facilitates banking needs of office including daily deposits.
- Assists in other locations as a patient coordinator as assigned.
Acting as Lead Receptionist for a designated Provider:
- Functions as a motivated role model with a positive attitude, professional demeanor, with excellent customer service orientation.
- Functions as a communication link between lead technician and provider to coordinate scheduling issues, referrals or other misc. tasks.
- Assists staff needing scheduling help or with questions.
- Monitors and manages the provider’s patient schedule by calling the waitlist, assisting with overbooks and ensuring the schedule runs smooth and efficiently.
Tracks and follows up on cancel and no-show appointments by following the No show/Cancel Policy.
- Reschedules patients as needed due to provider schedule changes.
- Assists with managing forms to be completed by the provider for patients.

- Drive time & Mileage reimbursement when assisting at Battle Creek, Howell or Mt. Pleasant.

- Public/Patient environment with typical public and patient exposure and scenarios.
Physical demands/potential hazards
- Required to maintain a physical condition consistent with bending, lifting, stacking, and rotating daily for prolonged periods. Required to lift and move items 50 pounds and/or unusually shaped equipment.
- Must be able to walk, stand, and move around for the majority of the day; may be required to lift equipment up to 50 pounds and assist patients with physical mobility.
Travel required
- More than 75% travel required.
Education and experience
Educational requirements that are job-related and consistent with business necessity
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.

Additional eligibility requirements
- Previous Ophthalmology or medical office experience desired.
