Position: Assembly Supervisor
Overview: Assembly Supervisor is responsible for delegating daily work assignments throughout the Assembly Department while functioning as a hands-on manager meeting production requirements. The Assembly Supervisor will ensure all Assembly departments have what is needed to prepare the final product. The Supervisor is required to communicate regularly with the employees in the Assembly Department and the Plant Manager. The Supervisor is also responsible for providing feedback on staff, production updates, and weekly reports to the Plant Manager. This position requires a desire to lead and mentor along with time and people management skills.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist with new hire training and ongoing mentoring with safety being established as the priority among the Assembly Department.
- Ensure ALL steps to a work process are included and it is understandable to the team members.
- Gather necessary items, parts and tools required to perform job functions efficiently and effectively for yourself and your team.
- Align material and put together parts to build more complex units.
- Update the Plant Manager regarding equipment needs including necessary maintenance.
- Maintain staffing requirements to ensure the department is properly staffed to meet the needs of the business.
- Assign work orders based on shipping requirements and staff capabilities.
- Identify training needs and opportunities for all employees within the Assembly Department
- Improve employee retention by establishing clear and pro-active communication with employees.
- Ensure quality standards are met by all Assembly Associates.
- Must have legible handwriting and ability to write basic instructions.
- Must be able to deal effectively with time pressures, long hours, rapidly changing priorities, and stress.
Qualifications:
- Ability to read a tape measure.
- Understanding of quality control principles.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to train with patience and provide mentorship.
- Excellent time and people management skills.
- A communicative leader who can also lead by example.
- Excellent organizational skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing equaling 95% of the assigned work shift.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Work environment is not climate controlled and can be hot or cold depending upon the weather conditions outside.
