The work ranges from sedentary type duties to routine walking, bending, lifting up to 40 lbs., and overhead work. The work is performed in a workshop-type setting. Working inside coolers is necessary. Plant maintenance requires off-site work, as do many other on- and off-campus events in a variety of conditions including outdoors. Routine travel to other departments on campus will require a valid driver’s license.Minimum Qualifications
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Any one or combination totaling one (1) year (12 months) from the categories below:
A. College coursework in art and design, floral design, or a closely related field, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:

Preferred Qualifications
1.assists in determining appropriate floral settings for the type of event planned;
2.assists in the selection of flowers and foliages;
3.wires, pins, glues, and wraps stems with floral tape to form bouquets, corsages, boutonnieres, sprays, wreaths, centerpieces, and other designs;
4.paint wreaths or sprays, using a brush or spray gun;
5.decorates facilities;
6.assist in the development and monitoring of the floral shop budget;
7.supervises assigned personnel;
8.performs other related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 4762 - Floral Designer position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 6/11/2023. Salary is commensurate with experience.
