Job Requirements:
The Director of Nursing is a New Jersey Board of Nursing registered nurse with education and community health nursing experience and progressive management experience in community health nursing, who is responsible for the clinical oversight of a Health Care Service Firm’s health care services program.
The director of nursing shall hold at least a BS degree, with a major in nursing or other health related field, plus two years of professional experience as an RN in community health and/or home health. In the place of a BS degree, the Director of Nursing shall have three years of professional experience as an RN in community health and/or home health, with progressive nursing responsibilities. The Director of Nursing qualifications shall include experience in providing nursing services in a patient’s home environment, inclusive of an assisted living facility.
The Director of Nursing reports to the owner.
Director of Nursing Responsibilities:
Clinical
§ Responsible for initial client evaluations in the field and client care plan development
§ Executes 30/60 day supervisory field visits in accordance with NJ Board of Nursing regulations
§ Supervises caregivers in home activity in accordance with NJ Board of Nursing regulations
§ Conducts re-assessments and update care plans as needed
§ Provides triage and on call support for assigned clients when needed and serves as backup for remaining clients
§ Direct supervison of nurse supervisor(s)
Administrative
§ Complies with both NJ and CAHC regulations
§ Supports caregiver training
§ Attends weekly client review meetings
Education, Experience and Certifications:
§ Current NJ RN license in good standing NJ
§ Current Driver’s License and Insured Automobile, ability to travel as needed
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
§ Conveys professionalism and is comfortable interacting with clients, their families and referral sources.
§ Must be able to function with minimal supervision, multi-task, problem solve and make decisions on a timely basis.
§ Must be comfortable with administrative responsibilities and possess modest computer skills
Ø All registered nurses in NJ must complete 30 NJ Board approved education units within a two year period. Plus a one time mandatory Organ and Tissue Donation course.
