Food Services Manager - Higher Ed. manages and coordinates food service, menu planning, and dining hall management for a university/college. Arranges work schedules and trains food service workers. Being a Food Services Manager - Higher Ed. maintains equipment and ensures kitchen sanitation. May require a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Food Services Manager - Higher Ed. typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Food Services Manager - Higher Ed. supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. Thorough knowledge of department processes. Summary:
Plans, organizes, directs, measures, evaluates and improves the food service function of Food and Nutrition Services. Develops and implements policies and procedures that facilitate the integration of the service into the organizations primary function of quality care and services.Requires ServSafe Manager food safety certification within 1 year of hire.
Requires 5 years of higher-level lead-type Food/Nutrition Services responsibilities with an Associates in a related field, or 3 years with a Bachelor's. Anyone hired into this position on or after 1/1/2023 must meet the required education and experience as shown.
