Additionally, Food Services Manager may require an associate degree or its equivalent. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Food Services Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions.     Job Purpose


     Receives food donations and ensures proper food storage for the Good Neighbor Café. Assists in maintaining a clean and sanitary warehouse and kitchen environment for serving meals to TRM guests.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities


     • Serves as a primary point of contact for donors and volunteers, receiving and cataloging donations creating a mutually beneficial experience. 

    • Supervises volunteers during food storage assignments (e.g., New Life Program participants).  

    • Ensures the cleanliness and sanitation of warehouse and kitchen operations (e.g., cleans and sanitizes food service areas, storage areas, floors, windows, walls, etc.). 

     • Performs preventative maintenance on kitchen equipment, including recharging pallet jack and floor scrubber, and reporting on low propane tanks.

     • Assists with a variety of other cleaning tasks as needed (cleans/sanitizes dishes, freezers, and refrigerators, disposes of food waste, garbage, cardboard, etc.). 

     • Performs other duties as assigned to support others and ensure an efficient and effective work environment. 


    Working Conditions


    Works well under pressure, able to respond calmly and effectively when under stress, and interacts with people from diverse backgrounds. Some travel between locations.

    Requirements

    • Two years’ experience in institutional cooking, preferred.
    • Basic knowledge of institutional food service cookery, equipment, safety, sanitation, and food preparation.
    •  Operates equipment, tools and machinery with skill and dexterity, including pallet jack and floor sweeper. 
    •  Understands and follows directions and procedures.  
    • Works well in stressful situations and maintains a calm demeanor under pressure.  
    • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships and foster teamwork in a diverse environment using effective and thoughtful interactions and communication. 
    • Basic computer, data entry, math, and grammar skills. 
    •  Skilled in clear and effective written, verbal, and electronic communication.  
    • Experience working with a diverse population.  
    •  Access to a vehicle for frequent travel between TRM locations.
    •  Operates TRM vans for the purposes of supporting the needs of the program. 
    • Valid Driver’s License & Evidence of Insurability. 
    •  Acceptable driving record. 
    •  Successful completion of TRM driving test. 

    Certifications & Licensures


     • ServSafe Certification and Food Handler’s Card, preferred.

     • Pallet Jack Certification, preferred. 


    Physical Requirements

    • Frequently moves about the office and kitchen facilities to access equipment, machinery, and food as needed.
    • Occasionally moves to respond to urgent situations.
    • Frequently operates office and kitchen equipment and machinery.
    • Communicates information and ideas so others will understand. Exchanges accurate information in these situations.
    • Observes details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
    • Frequently moves boxes weighing up to 50 pounds across the kitchen areas for various needs.
    • Occasionally works in outdoor weather conditions.
    • Operates TRM vehicles. 
    • Wears proper PPE (personal protective equipment) when necessary for exposure  control.
