    POSITION PURPOSE
    The Nonprofit Services Supervisor performs a wide variety of moderate to difficult responsibilities, specialized administrative functions, and program-related duties in support of the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank’s operations. The NPS Supervisor provides the day to day direction, support, and leadership to the NPS Coordinators to accomplish departmental goals and objectives. This is achieved through effective scheduling, team development and goal setting, and providing training and support for employees as well as Nonprofit Partners. This role is responsible for oversight of activities with both the Nonprofit Partners and the FEED program, and the NPS team of Coordinators will have responsibilities in each area.


    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
    The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed.     • Provide leadership and oversight for the NPS Coordinators. This includes development, skill assessment, scheduling, time card approvals, and performance management.
    • Provide training and onboarding to the team of NPS Coordinator and ensure ongoing training needs and skill assessments are met.
    • Conduct monthly one-to-one meetings with NPS Coordinators to discuss goal setting, strength, opportunities, and assess developmental needs.
    • Participate in Food Bank activities and represent the team at galas, festivals, conferences etc.
    • Adhere to all California and company required compliance laws in the effective management of the NPS Coordinator team.
    • Improve the equity and dignity of food distributions through implementation of a database at food pantries, neighborhood distributions, and Emergency Food Assistance Program (EFAP) providers.
    • Promote and create countywide awareness of the FEED initiative.
    • Keep accurate, detailed records and progress reports on all programs managed by the NPS Coordinators. Accurately track outcome measures on a monthly basis and update the FEED dashboard.
    • Conduct meetings, maintain notes, and send out action items to Food Bank staff on pending items.
    • Facilitate meetings with nonprofit partners and in group settings to actively engage agencies in process changes and to enhance services.
    • Educate partners on Oasis Insight and increase engagement.
    • Provide and facilitate training on the FEED enrollment process, conduct FEED presentations, and provide ongoing support to new and current Nonprofit Partners.
    • Distribute culturally and linguistically appropriate materials to reach and target a diverse client base.
    • Ensure department adherence to policies and procedures and assist in audits as needed
    • Build connections for Nonprofit Partners to refer participants and non-participants to other food assistance programs such as CalFresh, CSFP, EFAP and Neighborhood Distributions.
    • Supervisor and schedule monitor visits for all agencies in accordance with compliance timelines.
    • Being available for frequent evening and weekend shifts is required
    • All other duties as assigned


    EDUCATION, TRAINING and EXPERIENCE
    A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outline above is graduation from a four-year college or university; or at least 3 years of progressively responsible experience in a non-profit organization; or an equivalent combination of training and experience; or a bachelor’s degree with a major in sociology, social work, public health, or a closely related field; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Additionally, at least 2 years’ experience directly supervising paid employees or volunteers is highly preferred.


    SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
    Knowledge of:
    • Applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, and program related/contract guidelines within areas of responsibility
    • Windows Operating Systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Access, Outlook, Excel and Word)
    • Public speaking principles and practices
    • Customer service skills
    • General knowledge of non-profit organizational practices
    • Supervisory and leadership skills
    • Basic understanding of public assistance programs and poverty.
    • Safety regulations, safe work practices and safety equipment related to the position

    Ability to:
    • Effectively lead and develop a team
    • Interpret and explain guidelines, policies and procedures and create new ones when necessary
    • Operate a computer using Microsoft Word, Excel, and other programs with a high level of skill
    • Learn and utilize the Primarius inventory tracking system, Oasis Insight client database and Volunteer Hub
    • Train and follow through on adoption of Oasis Insight database for Nonprofit Partners
    • Utilize effective listing and communication skills with direct reports, Nonprofit Partners, and clients
    • Exercise tact, objectivity, sensitivity, strategy, and sound judgement with a variety of people in a variety of situations
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with program participants, Nonprofit Partners, representatives of community organizations and other Food Bank staff
    • Manage multiple priorities with an effective ability to prioritize and stay organized to meet deadlines
    • Perform highly detailed work on multiple concurrent tasks with frequent interruptions

    LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
    • A valid California Driver’s License
    • Bi-Lingual [preferred]
    • Must have own vehicle and will receive monthly reimbursements for mileage
    • Be willing to obtain Food Handler’s Certificate; training provided by the Food Bank upon hire

    COMPENSATION
    • This is a full-time, non-exempt/hourly/benefited position at $26.00-$29.00 per hour based on experience. 
    • The compensation package includes a competitive salary and an excellent benefits package including: 403(b) plan with 200% employer matching; excellent health care coverage with free employee medical, dental and vision plans; company paid term life insurance; and a generous accrual of paid vacation and sick leave and 14 holidays per year.

    WORK SCHEDULE 
    • Days and hours of work are from typically from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm.
    • This position regularly requires evening and weekend shifts.
    • This position is required to travel 40-60% of the time; travel is primarily within San Diego County.
