    This position will be physically based out of either the Charleston or Huntington areas since the preferred candidate will help us in selecting our new office location.

    Job Responsibilities

    We are looking for a licensed West Virginia attorney who is able to assist Reimer Law in opening a physical office in the state and assisting in the growth of our real estate, mortgage default, and creditor bankruptcy practice. This attorney will need excellent communication, organizational, and people skills. The right candidate will have at least three to five years of experience in West Virginia real estate, foreclosure, and/or creditors’ right law. They must be someone who is self-motivated, an independent worker, and someone who likes the thought of helping one of the preeminent default firms in the country build upon the firm’s existing client base in West Virginia. In addition, they will be required to:

    • Represent clients at hearings in all the West Virginia counties.
    • Handle a significant West Virginia caseload from start to finish with limited supervision through the use of innovative technology and highly trained support staff.
    • Draft motions, briefs, and other West Virginia legal documents as needed to represent the firm’s clients.
    • Manage and coordinate West Virginia issues with the entire Reimer Team to provide excellent service to all the firm’s clients.


    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    • Significant knowledge of the non-judicial foreclosure process in West Virginia is required.
    • A working knowledge of secured creditor bankruptcy issues, or a willingness to learn is a plus.
    • Willingness to help in locating and setting up a physical office, and when appropriate, hiring West Virginia based staff to assist with the practice.
    • Reliable transportation and a willingness to travel throughout West Virginia to call Trustee Sales, conduct title exams, and make both state and federal court appearances on behalf of our existing clients is required.
    • A basic knowledge of the national mortgage servicing industry and standard client software such as Black Knight and Tempo is a plus.
    • Solid business and legal judgment with an emphasis on analytical, organizational, and practical problem-solving skills.
    • High quality, effective, and professional written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to work well in a team environment both in person and remote.
    • Outgoing personality who enjoys interaction with courts, clients, and team members.
    • Detail oriented and able to work well under pressure with accuracy and poise.
    • Good working knowledge of modern technology and the ability to use it effectively.
    • Demonstrated flexibility and the ability to multi-task while maintaining a positive culture.
    • A strong understanding of the FDCPA is preferred.


    Minimum Requirements:

    • Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school.
    • Admitted to practice law in West Virginia.
    • Admission to practice law in Ohio and/or Kentucky is a plus.
    • Admission to West Virginia federal courts or the ability to obtain admission.
    • Three to Five years of experience with some meaningful combination of real estate law, foreclosure trustee operations, and creditor bankruptcy law.
